TPE Compounds

Rubber-like flexibility with thermoplastic processability

Product Overview

Thermoplastic Elastomers (TPE) combine the processing ease of thermoplastics with the flexibility and feel of rubber — without the need for vulcanization. Our Welprene Compound range offers a high-performance alternative to traditional rubber, delivering consistent quality and faster production cycles. TPE is recyclable, processes faster than rubber, produces consistent quality without sulfur vulcanization, and offers excellent colorability across the full spectrum. Unlike thermoset rubber which requires 15–30 minute cure cycles in heated moulds, TPE can be injection moulded, extruded, or blow moulded using standard thermoplastic equipment with cycle times measured in seconds. This fundamental processing advantage translates directly into lower tooling investment, reduced energy consumption, faster time-to-market, and lower scrap rates. Our Welprene grades cover Shore A hardness from 30A (very soft, gel-like) to 80A (firm but still flexible), enabling engineers to specify the exact tactile feel and mechanical performance required for their application. Specialist grades include UV-stabilized outdoor grades and flame-retardant versions for cable applications.
