TPV Compounds
Premium thermoplastic vulcanizates with rubber-equivalent performance
Product Overview
Thermoplastic Vulcanizates (TPV) represent the premium tier of thermoplastic elastomers, offering rubber-vulcanizate performance in a fully recyclable thermoplastic matrix. Produced through dynamic vulcanization — a process where rubber particles are crosslinked in-situ within a thermoplastic continuous phase — TPV delivers a finely dispersed rubber phase that provides superior compression set resistance far beyond what conventional TPE grades can achieve. This unique microstructure gives TPV its defining characteristic: the ability to return almost completely to its original shape after prolonged compression under elevated temperatures, a performance attribute critical in sealing applications. With heat resistance up to 135°C and outstanding chemical resistance to oils, greases, and hydraulic fluids, TPV is the material of choice for demanding automotive under-the-hood seals, weather-stripping, gaskets, and industrial fluid-handling components. FDA-compliant grades are available for pharmaceutical stoppers, medical device closures, and food-contact seals. Because TPV is fully thermoplastic, scrap and runners can be reground and reprocessed without significant property loss, delivering important sustainability and cost benefits compared to thermoset rubber.
